You can either increase the amount of RAM in your system or increase the amount of Virtual Memory.
Virtual Memory is an area on the Harddisk that Windows uses as if it were RAM. (When you're running low on physical RAM)
To increase the amount of Virtual Memory:
- Right-Click on My Computer
- Select Properties
- Go to Advance Tab
- Under Performance, Click Settings
- Choose Advance Tab
- Under Virtual Memory, Click Change
- Choose System Managed Size (Recommended) or
- Set your own Custom Size

That happened to me !! First try to fragment your files. I did a system recovery.
If you have the quick start book that came with the computer,it will tell you how to do this. DO NOT ATTEMPT to do this without directions. You need to make a RECOVERY CD(back up files). So you can reinstall things you want back on your computer. Atfer your done your system should be as the day you got the computer. However, I did not make a back up cd. I just wanted to keep a few things so I dowloaded them again. The one thing you may want to make sure you back up are pictures. Just incase you don't have a back up they may get lost.
GOOD LUCK I KNOW THIS IS A PAIN IN THE ***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OPPS TRY VIRTUAL MEMORY AS SOMEONE ELSE TOLD YOU MY SYSTEM HAD MORE PROBLEM THEN JUST THAT.
SORRY

Go to Control Panel > System > (or right click on My Computer > Properties) Advanced > Performance [Settings] > Advanced (again!) > If you check on system managed size (default,) Windows will manage the Virtual Memory (Page File) for you! "A page file is an area on the hard disk that Windows uses as if it were ram." Sometimes the "low virtual memory" message comes up because your hard drive is full or needs defragmenting. §§
