There really isn't too much "wrong" with what you have, if you want to place blame for his downfall on only him. Laios and Iocaste are ones being punished here for trying to avoid what fate/destiny holds in store for them in the first place. In Greek tragedy, the parents are often punished by being a cause for the deaths of their children...the curse for arrogance usually lasts several generations.
