99 percent of the so called hacker attacks that people yell about are none other than the users own misuse of their PC! I very seldom see a system come in my shop that wasnt messed up because the user didnt know what they were doing!! Some people come in cussin and swearin and talkin bout how they were ready to smash that PC with a hammer, and I just sat back and giggled under my breath and thought, youre the idiot who messed it up! I can even tell these people what not to do but they dont listen, okay so I will take their money next month too! Got one guy who comes in faithfully once a month to get his PC emptied of all the porn adware he infests it with, tried to tell him if he is gonna visit porn sites he is gonna collect this crap, he says "but I dont look at porn on the net"....what a boob!

the unhappy actuality is that a hacker can and could hit upon a manner into your pc, in the event that they easily need. Making it perplexing or time-ingesting is the final attitude. a million. deploy a solid third-party firewall like COMODO , OUTPOST, or KERIO (all loose), 2. deploy and shop as much as date an anti-virus utility like AVG, AVIRA, or AVAST! (additionally all loose), 3. Use a browser different than information superhighway EXPLORER and an anti-virus different than NORTON (via fact they're "targets": the hacker's Holy Grail...), 4. back up often! shop property you do no longer decide for to lose (... photos and tunes, case in point) on some thing different than your workstation's frustrating tension. USB keys are handy and espresso-value. different issues you're able to do: *close down your workstation once you're no longer using it. *Unplug the Ethernet cable or disable the on the spot/ bluetooth connection once you're no longer on line, *Use a various OS than homestead windows *keep away from the 'dark alleys' of the internet, while achievable. If it apprehensive you that your pals have been continually being ripped-off, you 'd evaluate greater efficient section lighting fixtures, a burglar alarm, and a shield canines... definite? it is the comparable on your workstation. nevertheless, there are no longer any ensures, regrettably. solid luck... wish it is efficient!

I am a computer tech and there's a few symptoms which are most common.

1. Your computer cursor or mouse starts moving on it's own.
2. Your computer is slow.
3. You are receiving e-mail replies from people you've never talked to.

The best way to prevent this is to get a good virus software package and firewall. Some good freebies are AVG free and ZoneAlarm. As soon as they are installed and up and running you should scan with AVG then delete any malicious file.

To scan for other stuff you should get spybot S&D and lavasoft adaware which are both free. Update and scan with both of those regularly. One which I use for most of my stuff is ewido (from the makers of AVG) which picks up 99.9% of malicious code used by hackers.

The saying in the industry is that the free utilities pick up 95% of the stuff in the computer. If they don't pick it up then our brains (that of a good tech) will pick up the rest.

Good luck and if you need help you can contact me through localcomputerwiz dot com.

it depends how good the "hacker" is... you may not notice it at all that theyre watching what you're doing... your best cheapest line of defense is to get a free 'software' firewall. http://smb.sygate.com/
sygate i believe is free (im using a paid one) Some internet provider like comcast offer free download of firewalls along with your internet plan. The next bet is to get a router. next, a decent anti spyware... lastly is an auto updating antivirus. Norton and Mcafee offer packages of these in one installation.. check it out. Antivirus and spywares would ensure that you don't have any viruses (like trojans) installed on your pc which hackers use to probe it. Goodluck

Stolen files, your computer gets hijacked and whatever else the hacker wishes to do. Nothing can stop it, all a good hacker needs is time. The most you can do is sever the connection.
