I am about to loose my mind.....I am very irregular never have a period, then suddenly have one. However I had one about 4 wks ago and thought things were regulating themselves, but I am on day 12 of this period, and it's not stopping. It had stopped all day today and then about an hour ago it started back up.....I am really broke and can't afford a dr. visit, as well as being new to town so don't have a local dr....I am not on birth control but my fiance and I are sexually active. Any idea what this could be?

Even if you are broke, 12 days of bleeding when you have never done so before is not normal, and a doctor's care may be needed. Maybe call your old doctor and talk to the nurse and see what they recommend.

Check with your local women's center, health department or Planned Parenthood. They often offer services at a discounted rate or can point you into the right direction.

If you cannot afford to see a private doctor, call to the local health clinic...look in the yellow pages, government section under Health Department. They either don't charge anything or have a sliding scale. A friend of mine had that problem and wound up passing out in the shower. She needed a D & C and after that was fine.

Go to a free clinic like Planned Parenthood or something. It's not normal for you to have your period so long, you need to go on birth control pills or find out what the root cause of this is. When i was 16, this happened to me and i got really weak, went on the pill for 1 month and it resolved itself.
