No it wouldn't. Are you sure it's your knock sensor that is faulty? Do you have a check engine light on in the car? Does the car turn over at all? It could be the starter needs replacing, dead battery, alternator not charging, Fluid in spark plug wells, faulty plugs and wires, broken timing belt. Take it to a mechanic that you trust and is familiar with your kind of car.

No it will not stop the car from starting. This sensor is designed to keep the car from retarding the spark so much as to make it spark knock.
If you supply can more information about the car we ( the people here at this board) can help more

the knock sensor detects preignition & detonation(knock) which is harmfull for the engine. If it senses a knock it sends a signal to the computer which in turns retards timing.
Therefore the answer to your questio is no.
Don's auto service has it backwards!

it shouldn't, but you might try unplugging it which will probably make your ck. eng. lite come on
