Here's a dumb question, but my 11-month old's hair is starting to get in her eyes and I'm not confident enough to do this myself.

How do they manage to cut a baby's hair at a salon?
Do they have highchairs? Does the baby sit in your lap?

Anything else I should know?
Any tips on picking a place to get it cut?

Thanks!

The first haircut is always the hardest. They had my daughter sit in a booster chair that they placed on the regular chair but they did say she could sit on my lap if it would make things easier and get her to sit still. It all depends on the place you take her. I personally took my daughter to my hair dresser. It was someone I was comfortable with and knew. They just charged me for a trim and took a cute picture of her sitting with the little apron on.
Don't be to nervous. Remember, it's just a trim and it's the first cut. It will always grow back. :)
Enjoy your precious angel!

Go wherever is cheapest (lets face it, it's not a proper haircut)
Your little one can sit on your lap or on their own, depends on what you want to do.
You won't really know how they will react until you get there. Give her something to eat or look at whilst they are cutting otherwise she will be turning her head left and right following what the hairdresser is doing.
Sometimes it's good to take them first when you are getting yours done - let them sit in the pram and watch.
I also 'do' my 19 month olds hair. I spray water in it and put the blow dryer on it, so when he does go for a haircut it is nothing new to him.
Don't forget to keep a lock of hair!

They do have places specifically for kids.If those aren't available I would suggest at that age she sit in your lap and bring something to distract her that will also keep her still. Bubbles are usually good. Though there really isn't any reason you couldn't do this yourself if you are only worried about her bangs. I cut my son's hair all the time at that age . As long as you are only trimming it at that age the hair is pretty forgiving as far as mistakes go.You could do it while she is asleep in her carseat so that she is upright and she will also be still . Good luck either way

My baby's hair was the same way. Chances are your baby won't sit still for the cut and will want to know exactly what the stylist is doing which will take forever unless you find a VERY patient stylist. Just trim them yourself as your baby already knows and trusts Mommy. It make take two or three tries (it took me three to get it even) but it will work out.

They have salons that specialize in it but it's over priced and just not worth it. For my daughter's first hair cut they had me sit in the chair and hold her and had her daddy in front of her to entertain her. The lady just worked around me and had me move the baby to the position she needed her to be in.
