I've heard that when you add 100% acetone (basically nail polish remover) to your car's gas tank, that it will increase your mileage by 3-5 MPG. I've also heard it calms down a rough idling engine. Anyone ever heard of this and if so, does it work? I'd do anything to get better mileage, gas is so expensive!

dont bother ur car is not a race car standard octane at any gas station like 87 or 89 with ethanol is more than sufficient. the reason for this is octane slows the burn down when compression becomes high u have a low compression automobile and do not require a slower burn dont worry about ur car

Wow I have been a mechanic for over 30 years and that ranks up there with blinking fluid. There is no such thing and all I have to say is if the person who told you this had to pay for your car being fixed when it blows up Ill bet this person diden't try this themselfs

that is crazy, i would not do that, acetone is a solvent, so if you did that, you probably already ruined the valve seats in your engine, as well as possibly deterioreted your fuel lines. if you have not tried it, DON'T, you are going to end up with a very expensive problem. Use fuel octane booster if you want more MPG!!!!
