I live in San Diego, 2 bdr/ 2.5 ba ALL ELECTRIC. When I'm by myself, I pay $125.00 - $165.00. When my son or his friends stay with me it goes up to $225.00 (mostly showers, washer and dryer, and dishwashing etc) when Christmas comes it spikes to about $265.00. This year we had the worst heat wave in the history of San Diego, and my bill was $275.00 for the summer....Here in San Diego we can do this thing where you can stabilize your bill for the year, so rather than having peaks and valleys, they estimate your usage and spread it out over the 12 months. That helps a little, because you're never hit with a shocker bill. See if your utility will do that...None of those numbers included water, which is about $130.00 a month when there's people here (I live close to the college and it appears I am the place to "crash!")

Geez, you people pay alot for electric in California! Here in Michigan, I pay about $35.00 a month for my electric for an 1.800 sq. ft. home, and that includes 2 PC's, 4 TV's plus surround sound and dvd/vcr players and 2 stereo systems. If everything is electric in your apartment there, then budget at least $200 a month, and more in the summer when you have to run the AC. Good Luck!!

Call your utility company and ask them how much electricity is. If you call them with a list of your appliances and how much you use them, they should be able to give you a ball park guess. Of course, if you use fewer electrical appliances, your bill will be less than if you do.
A kilowatt hour is the way they measure. For instance if you have ten 100 watt light bulbs burning for an hour, that's a thousand watts usage for one hour.. ie: One KWH. By installing energy efficient bulbs and turning off your computer, doing fewer loads of wash, etc. you'll save a bit.
Good luck

$100-$200 a month depending if you have the AC on or not. I pay close to $400 with AC set at 73 degrees in SoCal for a 2000 sq ft home.

Call the utility company and ask them what the average bill was for the previous resident. Count on paying a little more. You would be surprised how close it will be.
Don't believe the landlord, just call the utility company and explain.
