Disadvantaged black schools?

Question

I'm having a hard time finding a scholary web site that says segregated black schools where worse than white schools. The site needs to be a journal of some sort so that I can cite it like a journal and not as a web site. If someone could find an online journal that says this and send me the link it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I don't know that there were really any extensive studies done to determine the detrimental effects of segregated education, prior to the Brown vs. The Board of Education of Topeka KS. Up until then, any papers you did locate would most likely be scewed in favor of the position they wanted to support. You might start with reviewing a copy of that decision, since the Supreme Court usually lists items which they used to arrive at their decision. Since the desegregation policies of the 1960's, though, there have been mulitiple studies done with regard to the segregation which occurs through private and charter schools, in regard to males/females and minority students. I don't know if you would be able to use those studies to support your premise, but you could certainly make a good case to do so. A search using the parameters of studies of segregation in schools should turn up a number of recent papers. I hope this helps you a little.
