At least from what I've seen, Obama seems like the best potential presidential candidate to come along in many years. But do you think his name is going to ruin his chances for election?

Hey, I wish I wasn't serious. I just come from an astoundingly bigoted part of the country, and at least locally, I could see these ignorant hicks muttering slander about "that Osama Hussein feller."

I don't think it will ruin his chances but it certainly won't help them. I believe he is more likely to run as a vice presidential candidate than a presidential candidate in 2008.

He has been getting a fantastic amount of publicity lately based a great deal on his personality and oratory but he really has not made his position on the issues known. I like what I have seen but would have to know better what he stands for before voting for him.

He has very little experience to run for president but his not having an extensive voting record would give opponents less to attack.

None, people will vote against him because of the race and heritage that gave him that name, regardless of his qualifications and personality. Lets face it... everyone is racist in some way and to some level. His name would only serve as a racist campaigning slogan by his opponents. Off the subject... sending the human race into extinction is the only way to stop all of the problems in our world.....

It's just a coinsidence.

But the snakes will try to make something out of it...

If they have absolutely no problem keeping you scared so they can control you, then of course they will paint him in a way to rob him of his loyal patriotism. It's what they do.

But you can count on the ignorant to easily thought-controlled.

Sadly White America and their supporters that what the status quo. A woman also would NOT get elected even if it is a republican. The Caucasian-American MEN fear change to their rule over the USA.

I like Obama, but I think his time will be the 2016 Presidential Election. I don't see his name as a handicap, but as you can see people will say/do anything to win in politics. However, politicians are more thick skinned than us regular folk. He can handle it.

I have heard a little about him, but I think by the time he will actually run, 2012, the name will probably mean nothing.

I don't think he has what it takes - sorry. As for his name, it sounds like: Oh, bummer! Yes, he would have been smarter to choose a new name when he was naturalized as a US citizen.

Think of it this way, would any Kenyan vote for someone called O'Reilly?

How many voted for George Bush because of HIS name?

If you argue that it is obviously God's will that someone named "Obama" has been sent to lead our country to counter the evil that is "Osama", I think you might win with 85% of the vote.

I can hear it too. Sad, though. He's probably more suited to be president than some in the running and even some who have actually served or are serving as president.
