You are living in a part of the United States where Spanish is the most-frequently spoken language other than English. You will find that in some stores and restaurants, the employees ONLY speak Spanish. You need to have some Spanish just as a practical consideration.

However, I think most other Americans like myself would agree with me that it is somewhat distasteful to be expected to learn the language of recent immigrants just to do business with them. In any other country in the world, (France, for instance), immigrants are expected to learn the most-widely spoken native language.

It's really handy . And it's an easy language to learn. You're on a roll, and you can bring in THE BIG BUCKS being a professional polyglot. You could pick-up a job easily at the UN or the CIA, or start your own interpretation agency.

Good luck. Capitalize on your language abilities; it's a rare talent for adults to absorb a new language easily, and your skills will be in much demand when you're done with your education.
