There is not a best option, the latest version of Internet Explorer is only available for Windows XP.

Internet explorer updates only are available for windows XP and windows 2000.

Xp Home is a good choice.

Windows ME is a joke compared to later editions. You're going to need to update your Windows software or else you're stuck. Windows XP Professional is the best to update to.

Your best option is to wait a couple months and get Windows Vista. You don't want to buy and learn XP when it's on its way to being obsolete.

I like Knoppix Linux Very Fast And FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DONT GET VISTA!
Ive got it off a torrent i havent seen a worse O/S Since Windows 95!
And its VERY expensive Very Much a RIP OFF

I run XP. I've heard good things about a Mac. Either one would be great, but get away from that dino.

Unfortunately, if you want the new IE7 browser, you will have to purchase a copy of XP.
