I have a Asus P5NSLi motherboard (nvidia chipset) with a Core 2 Duo, the VGA card is an ATI X1900. Do you think since the chipset and the graphics card are made by 2 different companies this could be causing freezing of computer?

Since i have an ATI x1900 would the Asus P5WDH that has the crossfire chipset be a lot smarter of a choice to go with?

I have heard that people are having problems with this. My recomendation is that if you are not planning to run in Crossfire or SLI mode that you buy a chipset from Intel, that way you should have no trouble using a graphics card from either company.

To answer your 2nd question, no. Onboard video is much more limited compared to having an actual Crossfire setup on your PC with two PCI-Express cards.

Any Asus motherboard will be compatible with ATI cards, although I believe the "Sli" represents an Nvidia design.
If this is on-board Nvidia video, and you want to use an ATI card, you have to disable onboard video in the BIOS Setup page of your computer. Press DEL or F2 at startup to access it.

If your computer is not working properly when it is switched on, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
