Should all out of wedlock births have paternity test as a matter of course.

To be clear there would be the option to opt out of the paternity test .

No. Are you bananas?

Marriage doesn't guarantee fidelity, there are estimates that anywhere from 2-10% of babies aren't fathered by a woman's husband.

And not being married does not also suggest promiscuity. (Ya think Brangelina doubt who's Shiloh's daddy?)

And it's not advisable to mandate paternity tests for all births either. First, it's not cost effective. DNA labs would be overwhelmed, seeing as there's a baby born about 14 seconds or so in the US alone. And moreover, it's just a bad idea. Marriage and love and sex and birth and parenting all went along quite smoothly in the countless years of history that did not have DNA testing as an option.

What possible purpose would certifying paternity serve?

NO. That's stupid. For one, it's an obvious invasion of rights and VERY insulting to the new mother and society in general. Shouldn't all birth, no matter of marital status, have tests too, then? no no no.

I think if there is any question as to the dad then yes. All though it would make it hard for Maury to have a job after that...lol

It probably should be done in all births for medical reasons for one.
