I have been craving ice AND the way new tires or the smell of rubber on new tennis shoes smells. Has any other women had a weird craving for a type of smell like this? I feel so silly about it that I haven't talked to my doctor about it. I am sure that it's nothing (the smell part)...but I will purposely find the new tennis shoes or tires in whatever store I am so that I can smell them. Is this normal or am I totally retarded??!! This is my 2nd pregnancy by the way (7th) month and I have NEVER had a craving for smells....and especially a new tire smell. I sure hope it goes away after I deliver!! It's embarassing.

Its actually very rare but its called PICA. Its a craving for strange and unusual (non edible) substances. They say it can actually be a normal occurance and that mothers who get this craving may have some type of vitamin or mineral deficiency.

There is nothing you can do about it - all the health care professionals say IS NOT to eat these things which of course is understandable because most PICA cravers crave for toxic stuff.

If you need help with the cravings seek help from your doctor...he/she might be able to give you a supplement or find out if you are defficient with something in particular.

Good Luck

From my mom's experience (when she was pregnant) ice cravings can sometimes indicate an iron deficiancy, which is common in pregnant women. You might want to do some research on that. I also wanted to mention that I had a rare iron deficiancy when I was a kid called PIKA, anyway I know it sounds kinda weird but I had a weird sense for certain smells such as plastic, rubber, and off the wall cooky stuff. I don't know but maybe it's something to look into. Congrats on the pregnancy!!

Ask your doctor. Some people have been know to crave eating dirt or smelling clothes detergents. Often it is your bodys craving for a certain vitamin or mineral that might be missing in your diet. Just ask he's probly heard it, anyway, he won't be ugly about it. He may have heard of it and know exactly what you need. Then again, he might not but it be worth asking.

i do no longer quite understand... are you asking if a woman who's at the instant pregnant, 3-5 months alongside, can get pregnant with a 2d toddler for the time of the comparable being pregnant? if so, no it quite is not achievable by way of undeniable fact that the cervix/uterus is closed off (mucus plug and whatnot) If notwithstanding you recommend a woman who's had a toddler 3-5 months before, particular it quite is achievable to get pregnant returned so quickly after having the toddler.

I craved the smell of windex and fabuloso. Normal. I got mine in later pregnancy. At first I could stand the smell of my husband or work. I own a mexican restaurant.

Ha ha that is funny. I remember trying to stay AWAY from certain smells mostly. I do remember loving the smell of curry though, but I always love that smell.

yep. that goes for me too. i craved for the smell of rosewood. those kind of wood give off a kind of smell that drives me crazy. i keep a piece in my bag and take it out for a sniff whenever i feel like it. almost like a drug addict. my neighbour was nuts for soap. she wanted to eat soap. she had a particular fancy for lux bar soap and in the end, she scraped thin strips of soap and actually ate them. she went thru 1 and a half bar before she had her fill and told anyone. but it does go away. don't worry
