A different version of this question is that there is a terrible car accident involving father and son. The father is dead when the ambulance arrives and the boy goes to hospital. The surgeon then says "that's my boy!"
It was used to investigate preconceived notions of gender in jobs, i.e. people assume that the surgeon is male and struggle to figure out who it is.
