I know this sound weird but it works about 90% of the time...all parts must be done in the right order:
1)Get a glass of water
2)Stand up straight, shoulders back..head up
3)Take in a deep breath and hold it
4)While holding your breath, take in a mouthful of water
5)Turn your head to the left
6) Swallow
7)Release your breath
If that doesn't work..try a spoonful of sugar, or drinking from the opposite side of the glass...by putting your chin in the glass and tipping forward to sip from it.

see all these different cures? exactly. i learned this when i was...19. just tell yourself ''no.'' with all the will power you can muster. no, not out loud. :p just in your mind. assert the fact that you don't get hiccups. you must believe what you are telling yourself. i never hiccuped more than twice in any ''hiccup fit'' since that discovery. also works for sneezes.
it's like in the movie dumbo. remember how he thought he needed the feather? all those other ''cures'' are the feather. dumbo didn't need the feather to fly, and you don't need those ''cures'' to stop the hiccups ;-)

get a cup of water and a straw, plug your ears while slowly drinking through the straw for about 5 sec.
Try it! It works for me every time... don't ask why...maybe a "pressure" thing?
