It's an HP PSC 2410, and it's connected to a windows pc. I'm connecting to it from a mac using the gimp print drivers. But it is insanely slow.. as in like 30 seconds per sheet. I've already tweaked all the options I can find, but it doesn't seem to help. Any Ideas?

Hi there..the converter (gimp) is similar to emulation mode. The information exchanged between printer and Mac has to be translated in order to read the driver code information. I hope this explanation helps.

You may have to learn to live with the slowness or see if you can find another driver. Chances are that the driver doesn't work well with the print spooler and thus the communication is sloooooow.

printers are like that, unless it has problems. if you print directly from internet or files, it skips white spaces, saving time (very default, heck, why did i even add this in?) if you copy, it tends to darken some white areas, causing it to be slow. i don't think this answer helped very much on what you're asking, but hope it helps in the future

Uninstall it and reinstall it using the Mac software that came with your printer.
