They CAN do it on their own. They simply choose not to. They just know there will be at least one stupid sucker on here who will do all the work for them.
That's why when I answer those types of question I give them hints on where and how to find the answer, and then let them find it/figure it out. I don't answer it for them.

Sometimes you just can't figure a problem out, or you don't understand a concept no matter how many times your teacher explains it you still don't understand. There's maybe thousands of people on here and maybe a dozen who are willing to help you, so why not ask? Plus, some teachers have overly strict homework policies where if you leave just one answer blank they won't accept your homework. Some kids have work and sports and other things they have to do than spend two hours on a math problem.

With the technology offered today, kids become more intelligent. They know how to get information/help fast. It is not the problem of asking people to do it for them but it is a question of how to make full use of the technology offered. By asking their questions here, they not only will be able to answer their homework questios but they gain confidence in studying. They won't be scared of humiliation in school and this promotes them to study better.

I believe asking for assistance and asking for someone to do it are two different things. For the person asking for the answers I think it is a sign of the times. A lot of people want immediate gratification without going through the proper steps to attain where they want to be in life. Unfortunately for them, they will not have questions and answers while writing their final exam.

because maybe they've done all of their homework except for one or two problems that they can't figure out on their own, so they are looking for a little guidance! i'm happy to see kids actively searching for help for their homework problems, instead of just sitting there and leaving it blank and getting a zero!

Especially since the time it takes them to place the question, a simple google search will reveal it

It is the age of the Internet. Someday they will regret not doing their homework on their own.

Make them do it away from the computer. Make them do it in front of you. Other then that you can not stop them.
