If someone was determined to steal then why wouldn't they steal from a church? Is it morally any different than stealing from the people who attend the church? I don't see a difference.
But why would churches want to keep any possessions worth stealing? Aren't their treasures best kept elsewhere?

People that steal don't care where they steal from. Churches can often be easy access. People think, well I'm in church my stuff is safe here. Its not true people! Lock your cars at chuch. Don't leave your purse in the pew unattended. Churches want the unsaved to come and hear the Word and learn how to be christians. So when those people first come they often have no morals. The world today certainly doesn't promote any. People who steal are either desperate or they simply don't care.

Because they think that all church people will forgive them and won't do anything about it. Depending on the church, though. They would steal because they want, and maybe they didn't get help from them and decided they would steal from the church anyways. A lot of non church goer's i've read steal from the church.

Greed overtook the thieve's desire for friendship, warmth, care of the church members, etc. I won't be surprised that choir boys or priest sleep with whoever, but that's another matter and is not reason for anyone to steal.

Before we condemn the thief, what about the church leaders sleeping with the choir boys?
