I guess I should have a professional do this...how much could it cost? And where do you find one? What about having a friend do it? Is it a bad idea?

Try Davids Bridal. They fit for free if they think you're interested in their dresses.

This is easy as pie! First, you'll want to find a soft tape measure, one normally used for sewing. The measurements they will most likely need is bust, waist, and hips. So wearing comfortably fitting undergarments and standing in front of the mirror with both feet evenly on the floor, measure comfortably (not too tightly) around the fullest part of your bust after inhaling (not too deeply). Wrap the tape measure around your bust and pinch the measure where the tip of the measure meets the numbers. Round up to the next even inch.

For your waist measurement, don't try to suck in your waist unless you plan on doing this during the entire time you are wearing the dress. Stand comfortably erect with both feet evenly on the floor. Now do as before and wrap the measure around your waist, in line with your belly button and round up to the next even inch.

Finally, wrap the measure straight across the hips in line with your hip bone. Make sure that your feet are flat on the floor and that you are standing comfortably. Also be sure that the measure is straight across your back. If you can't do this yourself or are unsure, anyone with sewing/clothing craft ability such as knitting or crochet ought to be able to help you.

dont pay for it when you can have someone do it for you!measure a little more areas just in case if you dont know what they want. Measure the widest part of your hips. your waist right above the belly button. right below the bust. The largest part of your bust. your inseam(from your crotch down to your foot where your pants end) and lastly just in case start with the end of the tape measure at your shoulder, bring it down through your legs, back up your back to the same shoulder, this is your torso. hope this helps, best wishes!
