Hmmm, that is quite a predicament you have there...

I'm afraid I cannot help you out on the percussions bit, but continue to encourage you to take lessons and practise...

It can be difficult to shake off a stereotype once you've been firmly labled with one...and if vehemently stating those facts to be untrue has not helped...well, I don't think that there is a quick fix solution to this, even more so when the teachers go against you! It may be hard but try to 'deal' with such comments as calmly and civilly as you can, just because they resort to name calling and immaturity, it does not mean that you must too. It is also possible that they are calling you names to get you angry so you may benefit in ignoring their jibes and they may eventually tire when they realise that they are not having any effect.

It is difficult to remain close to someone who does not live with you and has their own lives to take care of, but it is also natural for you to want to maintain a close relationship with your brother. The first step I suggest is to give him a call, and ask him whether he could take some time out of his busy schedule to spend with you, to have a little talk. It is important to let your brother know about how you feel and talk things out with him to together decide on an arrangement that will suit you both.

This is just some of my advice, if you feel that none of this helps, you could always speak to your local councellour, who will be very willing to hear you out and help.

1 Okay, for the percussion the most I could say is go to a local music store and buy a book or maybe a tape and practice! If possible try to get lessons.
2 Get comfortable in your own skin and be whoever you want to be. People are stupid, so let them be stupid, don't sink to there level. Its said a million times, but seriously, try to ignore it.
3 I don't know the situation, but try to find things to do together that you both like.
