Keep closing doors behind them and you - until the only way out is a outside door - throw something or make a loud noise to try to persuade them to go outside.
One they're outside, shoot them with a .22 caliber pistol loaded with a .22 shotshell load.
It's perfect for small pests like that, and extreamly satisfying if you don't like them. It's fairly quiet, virtually no richochet, and can even be used indoors in an unfinished basement or outside against a wooden fence with hardly any noticable damage.
A few pits in the wood.
A .22 caliber pellet gun would also work and is very silent, but unless you get spend $200, for one, the sights are crappy.
They are also single-shot so you have to load it and then pump it a few (5 or so) times before each shot. You probably want something that's a little faster to get ready since you're scared of them.
And, if you're getting a good one air pistol, you're getting towards the price of a nice used pistol that'll last 50 years or so.
If you get the .22 primarily for that, you might want to get a revolver, as the shot-shells don't usually have enough power to cycle the next round in a semi-automatic, you'll have to rack the slide again (no big deal).
Snakes eat lizards don't they? You could get some of them.
I've had live traps and have not had much luck with them.
They're all nice and "green" and crap, but it's very hard to get them to go in there - they're always in the mood for something else.
When you catch them - what are you going to do with them? Take them 100' away and release them?
If you're scared of them, then live traps are REALLY not fun to empty with a pissed-off animal inside of them... Then it's back in a day or two.

Where do you live that you have scary lizards??? On the desert? Normal little lizards do not hurt you, they cannot bite, they have no teeth, they don't sting you and they eat bugs. Now if you are out there messing with Gila Monsters, thats another thing entirely. Unfortunately, its true that cats will keep them away..poor lizards!

maybe the pest control didn't actually kill their food source. maybe it killed other bugs, but not the actual bug that the particular lizard eats. do some research and find out what kind of lizard you have all around your house, then find out all of the things it eats, and try to kill what it eats. the lizards will move out when their food source is gone.

Have you considered getting a cat? They love lizards.
Are they dangerous lizards, or are you just scared of them?
Here is a site that answers that precise question:

Who knew lizards hated eggshells?

When we moved into our house 11 years ago, the first thing my wife and I missed was the geckos on patrol for bugs. Thankfully, in a year or so they showed up and have been around ever since. When one gets into the house, I just catch it and take it outside. They are cheaper than Orkin and a lot safer for you and the environment!!

Unless you have many holes in your home where they enter, get a cat. But outside let them be. They can eat more harmful insects in a day then you could kill with insecticides in a month. You must have a tasty buffet for them to hang around. Count Your Blessings!

Lizards are our friends. Why be freaked out by them? They eat bugs and roaches. Be happy you have them. They will not bother you.
