It has been awhile since I read about social contract ideas, but if I recall correctly the basic concept is that man is entitled to total individual freedom but only to the extent that it does not cause harm to other men. As part of a society, man agrees not to cause harm to others through his own actions and not to force others not to express their freedoms if those do not affect oneself (not impress your ideas by force on others without cause). These are the same ideas behind democracy, people vote to note what actions are acceptable and unacceptable to society and the government checks the popular vote to ensure no one is overrun by an unfair majority, thereby ensuring the greatest level of individual freedom to all men while still protecting the infrastructure that holds a society together.

Rousseau's social contract IS the premises for democracy. The Social Contract theory guarantee's an individual their own rights in exchange for order and stability from them. Democracy is an institution which protects such rights in exchange for the voice of the people. Do you see the connection now?

it hinted in freedom and personal rights
in other words individual freedom and the will of the people
less government decisions
like for exanple the way the judicial courts work where ur local court system deal with the case first and then if it gets serious then they take it to higher courts
