I would say things he likes--candy that won't melt, a book/magazine that he may be interested in. My own bf is in CA while I'm in NY and I send him care pacakges. For Haloween I put a ton of candy in a chinese take-out-box-thingy, along with a holiday cookie, a package of pre-mixed soup (-(the kind that's hard to mess up ^^; )-), and a little crafty thing. If you're guy is into that kind of thing you may want to give it a try. If he's not, you could always send pictures, love notes. You could also get his friends from home to write something and send them all en masse.

My best suggestion, though, is still do the personal thing. If he loves cars, send him a hot wheels in every package, that kinda thing. But whatever you end up sending, *always* add a note saying how much you miss him and love him.

Some favorite snacks like chips or crackers. Your picture. Kiss the back of it with some red lipstick and jot a love note on it. Also send a local newspaper or something else with "home" information in it. Even if he can't go to the haunted hayride with you he will still like reading about it.

those soldiers usually want deodorant, shampoo, candy. You could send your boyfriend a picture of you -done in good taste of course. They like to get letters from home as well.

My brother in law is due to go back for like the 5th time and that is the kind of stuff that he asks for.

Stay strong and keep your boyfriend in your prayers.

Don't make it too sentimental because it will make it harder on him but your idea sounds great. All his favorite foods that can be shipped is a start. Pictures of the two of you throughout your whole relationship having fun and mist your perfume on them, and cut a piece of your hair after you washed it with your favorite shampoo and tie it with a bow- put it in a plastic bag so it doesnt lose its smell. I bet he will carry it with him all the time.
