My wife and I are both bi-polar. Just curious to see if there is anyone else with the same circumstances.

I have been in treatment for almost 10 months. My wife has been on medication for years. I see my psychiatrist once every 4-5 weeks and I receive weekly counseling. We are parents of a 15 month old son.

My wife and I are separated - by court order - all because I didn't let her out of a car one summer day in 2005. I've stabilized - she has stabilized but the court ordered separation ends in 2008. Note that this is not a legal separation via the civil courts. I took the criminal fall for my psychotic behavior - her psychotic behavior occurred before my sentencing in April.

As the other poster mentioned - sex was indeed mindblowing (without the medicine - in 2005) but mindblowing sex doesn't pay the bills or support a 15 month old son.

I've seen some good answers - keep them coming.

It would depend on if you both were on Medication for your Bi Polar and under a Physicians care. If you are not, then one of you is certain to have a heard time dealing with events and episodes that might come up during a marriage.

if the only factor in the marrige is the illness, then it will work if both people stay on their meds.
other factors will always come into play in any kind of relationship between 2 people.
good luck to you!
if it helps, there are very few people in my family that have not been diagnosed with either bi-polar or severe depression.......we even have one schizophrenic!! woohoo, yea us!

Well I am and my husband is not- and it's hard, he doesnt understand me and gets annoyed all the time so I would say it would be easier since you both know how it feels and what you are both going through. The only problem I see is if one of you goes off your meds. The stress may be hard to take.

Good luck to you both

It depends on how stable you each are, as for kids, that is up to you, bi-polar can be genetic, also meds for bi-polar cannot be taken during a pregnancy. I am not bi-polar, but I have been around plenty who are.

Without the meds, they would balance each other out and have mindblowing sex.

I would think so with meds. It might be an advantage since you both have an understanding of the illness. One thing is for sure. It won't be boring.
