The only way you can master math is to practice doing every kind of problem over and over until you get it. Math is like music or physical fitness. It requires continual practice to achieve mastery. There are no magic shortcuts. Ask lots of questions if you don't understand. If your teacher isn't helpful, you may want to find someone who is good at math who will show you how to do problems correctly. You can post questions here and ask to be shown how to do a problem. Then just keep trying. You may need to do even more problems than your teacher assigns in the homework, but if you push yourself, you will be surprised at what you can do. You have to believe that you are smart enough to do math. Don't let your past problems keep you from doing better in the future.

Lots of people want to help you, but you did not tell us
Your age
What grade you are in at school
Where you live (Country, State, City)
What Math you are having trouble with
(Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Trig, Calculus)
We need all that information to come up with a
good help solution for you.
Everyone has suggested a Tutor and that is a
great idea if you live somewhere that Tutors are
available.
Please re-submit your question with that information.

most math in high school are useless
but there's some math you really need to know by heart
single digit multiplication you would need to memorize
and 3 digit addition and subtraction shouldn't take more than 5 seconds
and anything that can be divided by a single digit to a whole number shouldn't take more than 5 seconds as well

The problem people have with math is usually the size of the numbers. If you take the same problems and plug in smaller numbers it usually helps make the problems simpler.
I still do that with hard stuff. I mean it is alot easier to count on your fingers that figure out stuff in light years!

I need to know what type of math you are talking about. Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, or what?
If you have certain math proplems that you don't understand, ask the question. Then we can help you understand how to solve problems better than they can in school. Tell us what type of problems you have to deal with.

Don't worry about it, you are not the only one who doesn't know math in this world. I don't know much about you, but you might have some talents that other people don't have;so don't worry about if you are bad at math, you can ask other people for help on your math problems (hw, tests, quizzes....etc). I would like to help in in the ways that I can help you.

Best advise is to not try to do math in your head. If you can't write down every step you don't understand it.
Get a tutor and start with the basics.

It's that way for a lot of people. If your school has a math lab or math tutoring program, you should sign up for that. It will help a lot.

My advice would be to be totally open with your Teacher, and explain to him/her what it is that you don't understand. That's what they are there for. It may take a little bit of time out of your "Social Life" , but at least you will get the knowledge that you need.
