I just bought it and the previous owner sooped it up w/ a 350(stock out of a 1 ton chevy van), and a TH350 trans. It has a 650 cfm Holley 4 bbl on it. I was wondering, how hard would it be to swap out that motor for an MFI LT1 350 from a Chevy Caprice police car? Those are crazy fast...and they take so much abuse. How hard would it be to wire up the fuel injection and the ECU? And would i have to get a different radiator for the reverse flow cooling system?

the part # you are looking for is 12499120, a ram jet 350. it says you can put it in 76 and earlier vehicles. but it can go in cars much later than that and definitely in a 1986. hood clearance could be a problem with the stock hood. but you would probably want to put a big old honkin hood scoop on it anyway. the web site shows what all you get with the engine. and yes you get an mefi4 controller (ecu) with the engine. i sold one several years ago to a customer who is still happier than a pig in **** with it.

As long as you have the caprice right there and can get the car to run before you take it apart, you should be ok. The wire harness should all transfer over. About the only extra thing you'd have to do is have a new exhaust made for it. Make sure you don't break off any of the sensors.

The biggest problem with putting that kind of set-up in it is that you run the risk of twisting the car as it is a Uni-body design. You should seriously consider Sub-frame connectors for it, these will greatly reduce that risk as well as enhancing the traction available for take-off when getting on it.
