This is the one prescribed for me whenever I have severe colds. I can not take any other one such as Tylenol since my doctor says they interfere with other medications i take.

That's one of the side effects of ibuprofen. I have no idea what causes it though.

You can try a stool softener if it's really bad; that's what I used after I had my son and had some issues with constipation. They aren't as hard on your system as a laxative. They don't work quite as quickly, though, so you still might have some discomfort.

Contrary to some opinion, the recommended doses on the packets of medication are there for a reason. You take any more than they suggest and, unless recommended by a doctor, it is nothing short of irresponsible behavior. If you can read and comprehend, you have no excuse. Okay, for Advil, it is an initial dose of 1-2, followed by 1 every 4-6 hours with a maximum of 6 over a 24-hour period. If the Advil isn't enough to deal with the pain, you can take Panadol at the same time (it's a different class so can be taken in combination). For Panadol (to make sure everyone's clear), it's 2 tablets every 4-6 hours with a maximum of 8 over a 24-hour period. If Panadol and Nurofen aren't enough, you can take either of those in combination with Codeine (last resort as Codeine can be frequently constipating and, if you didn't respond to that, see a doctor or pharmacist). Please, please abide by the recommendations - actually, make that instructions. If the medication is not suitable, don't just take more. Talk with your pharmacist. If you don't live near a pharmacy, you can always ring and ask to talk to the pharmacist. Oh, and it's not about size or weight: you can be 5"0' and weigh 55kgs. It's about the effect of the drug on an adult liver. Just because you might be taller or bigger than "normal" doesn't necessarily mean that you need more.

I don't know, but maybe you ought to be like the blonde that went to the doctor. She said "Doctor it hurts when I do this, he said "well don't do that!" Sorry I can't help. But what ever you do DON'T take an advil, a sleeping pill and a laxative before you go to bed. You might not be in any pain while you sleep but you might wake up in a mess. ;-)

Any pain-killers will constipate you. If you took enough of tylenol or any others, it would do the same thing, because they're still pain killers.
