My daughter is almost 5 Months old, and I've been taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo and was wondering what is the difference between the Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo and the regular Orth Tri-Cyclen?
My doctor recommended the Lo, but never told me why!
Thanks for your input!

Do they make a difference in your periods? I've noticed I have been having very light periods since I have been taking the Orth Lo!

The "Lo" has a lower does of hormones. Both are equally effective, they are just different. Neither one is better than the other. Some pills work better for some people and others work better for others, so it is all about which one is right for you. If you aren't having any problems on the pill that you are now on there is no reason to switch. Based on your health history you doctor decided the "Lo" is prefferable for you.

The Lo means a lower dose of hormones.

At different times, I was on both of them, but only for a few cycles. I noticed a difference in my periods, but not like you described. I was trying to find a kind of pill to help regulate my periods. On the regular ortho Tri-cyclen, I got bad cramps and some months I would have a one-day period, and some months I would have a 5 day period. I went on the Lo, and was only on it for 3 months. The first month, Ihad a 3 day period, but the second month, my period came and never stopped, even though I was starting the next package. After it had been going for three weeks solid, I went to the dr. again, and was put on something else. After that, there was one more brand, and I got pregnant on it!

Were you having some problems on the regular and that's why your doc reccomended the Lo?

The lo is a lower doseage of horomones. It may be easier on your body with less side effects.

I would imagine the "Lo" refers to lower hormone levels - less hormones than the other variety.
