Not for what we have, but who we have become!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The world's dictator, are way or the high, the intimidator in real
life. The user. the oppurtunist, the liar, the cheat, the greedy one,
the one to take advantage of all people. We have become the bastards of the world, because are leaders are the same. We use
to be like everywhere I went until Bush came. Now I a would be
saying it is dangerous to say you are a american in any country.

I believe history shows two paths to answer this question the first are former great nations who have fallen mainly the European countries who are now jealous of us. the second set are countries formerly under coloniual rule by the europeans. they believe we will also enslave them and cannot believe we will simply allow self rule. However our record speaks for itself. we do not go into a country and impose our will. Name one place this has been done. Do we look out for our own intrest yes as any government should for its people. do we try to stabilize regions yes as we should. Are we always right no. Years of British, French and spainish imperialism has created a lot of unstable countries and we try to help but are often unsuccessful.Name any region that is unstable and I can name a european country that left a mess behind when they pulled out. Even when a countries policies are counter to ours we tend to back off as long as those policies are a benefit to the people. And to often in history we have stood on the sidelines because we have been asked to just to be asked to intervene when the situation is out of control. But the idea of empire building cannot be applied to the US. Do we bully yes. but every country uses whatever power they happen to have and we use it far less than most.
Vietnam is a perfect example. the french asked us to stay out and we did until they and the British pulled out of Asia and left huge vacuums that the Soviets and Chinese tried to exploit should we have just let the whole continent fall?
I believe we overstated our position in Iraq all we needed was the fact we mopped up the Kuwait mess and Saddam had not complied with the ceasefire in many more ways than just WMD's
I know we found none but Saddam gave us an invetory and had strict guidelines that he did not follow. not to mention a direct assination attempt on a former President that is all out war even in France.

I posed this question to my boss the other day. To begin with, he is a self labeled "super-liberal", and "only one step away from being a communist". His business is manufacturing and importing products from China and the far east. In doing business, he has been just about everywhere in the world. The answer he gave was the fact that everywhere he goes, he sees "ugly Americans", the kind of people who supposedly only exist to take advantage of 3rd world countries, and to reap the benefits of low cost labor in far eastern countries. Strange, though, that he doesn't rank himself among these so called "ugly" people, since that is how he makes his living. The rest of the world hates us because of our successes. Tree huggers, liberals, and other bleeding hearts would have us fail in life, just so we don't live above other people. Sorry, folks, its called the luck of the draw, and you lost. In the next life, if Karma is real AND if we are truly the assholes you say we are, we will all end up there the next time around, and the universe will be balanced.

It's all already happen were just experiencing the conscious of our decisions played out through unconscious thought. Meaning that each action has a purpose and effect which ultimately leads to the final actions of each individuals experience. We control nothing, and nothing is in control of any decision made by an individual except for themselves. Friends or foe, it is what it is because that's what was chosen.

Most other countries are jealous of our wealth and power. Alot of others hate our promiscuity, our openness, the way we dress and act. Yet so many still want to come here for a better way of life. When you look at the way other's live; I can't say I blame them.

The US gov't is despised because we are the bully of planet Earth. We try to be the world's policeman, and tell everyone what to do.
AND we get involved in everyone's business.
The War in Iraq has shattered our credibility as a peaceful nation.

Envy. Jealously. Amorality as opposed to having at least a few scruples.
