i wouldn't think so since the object to any affair is to not get caught in order to maintain control it would have to be used as a weapon and cheaters don't usually want that in their arsenal

To use something to control someone they would have to know and most of the time the last thing a spouse wants is for the other spouse to find out they are cheating. Now to threathen to cheat that would be a form of control. If you dont do this or that I will just have to find someone who will, that would be a form of control.

you'll find every excuse in the world to cheat and control is often part of the game. the main reason men or woman cheat is they desire or need more attention that the spouse can give at that particular time. there is no way to justifying the action.
In order to keep a man or woman one must keep focused keeping the romance and relationship alive and not settle in to the doldrums of complaisantly. relationships are hard work that needs constant nurturing at first over time things get easier and easier and cheating is only a place that is forbidden

Absolutely! Many people look at cheating as a form of control over thier spouses and thier own lives...this is of course VERY wrong and requires a lot of introspective soul searching to sort out.

I suppose it could be. Mostly, it's about a total lack of respect for the other persons' feelings and needs.
I could see an emotionally sadistic person cheating as a form on control, though.
