I was a hockey coach in Bobcaygeon Ontario coaching 13 yr. olds that had started about 6 or 7. A boy from England moved here who had never skated before. He tried out for the team and the first year was a little difficult, but by the second year he was pretty good. He worked hard, and never missed practises and skated whenever he could. Good Luck, you can do it.

I started playing at 32, so you're probably fine.
:D
If you mean could you still go pro... anything's possible. But the thing about hockey is that it's its own reward.
Even if you never make college or semi-pro or pro hockey, you will have learned to play the greatest sport in the world.
And you'll have that for the rest of your life.

Yes, start with skating, you can't play if you can't skate. Get as much ice time as possible and practice those edges. Carry your stick around the house, it will strengthen your wrists and learn stick control. You can get books and videos at the library to learn the game and drills for practicing on your own. Good luck and see you on the ice.

I'm trying to cross over from roller to ice, and I'm almost 25. It can be done if you are willing to work at it.
