I have to find a philosopher who will back up the ideas of Hume. I also need to know an article or book by that philosopher.

the age of enlightenment is an age we are still living, before enlightnement we (people) asked and depended only on God for answers to everything we did every day, now we realize we are smart and have knowledge, that God has given us knowledge and the brain to use it. I have to wonder though... if we are so enlightened, why are we still at war, killing each other humans, and we worship less....than we did before enlightenment. kinda like pandoras box, be careful what you wish for.

Immanuel Kant was so disturbed by David Hume (the skeptic) that Kant began his work on "The Critique of Pure Reason" (in this Critique, Kant defended the possibility of knowledge). So, Kant was "influenced" (but not in a positive way) by Hume. Some historians allege that the reason why Kant was so upset by Hume was because Kant read a very poor translation of David Hume (from English into German).

Hume's theory of morals suggested that moral feelings could be activated by that which is either pleasant or useful. Thus, Hume's thinking here is later espoused by the Utilitarian views of Bentham and Mill.

C. L. Stevenson in "Ethics and Language" also reflects Hume's views on morality.
