Thanksgiving is a day to give thanks for what we have. That is especially true of the people who we have in our lives & those who were a part of our lives, but have passed away. The family feast with turkey and all the "trimmings" & the watching of football games even though it's the middle of the week have become traditional ways of celebrating this day, but even if it isn't something you do in a traditional way it's good to reflect on the positive things in your life like family & friends.

Having to take days off and not earn any money. Having to shop for 9 hours for stuff you can't find. Having to spend $233 on $194 worth of wasted leftovers. Having to work in the kitchen for another 9 hours trying not to burn anything while chasing your naked 3-yr-old down the street and mistaking your children's nose-goblin sucker for your poultry injector. Having to spend another 9 hours scrubbing glued on marshmallows off a "non-stick" pan and jackhammering stuffing off the ceiling only to catch just the highlights of the game the next day.
And at the end of it all, having the serenity to still be grateful for everything I've been so blessed for and to be able to say I wouldn't trade any of it for anything!
Mostly.
Good Question!

It reminds me of the first settlers here in America and what they had to go through at that time just to survive. It makes me very grateful for all I have today. It also reminds me to thank the Lord for everything I have.
