I always gave two oz of juice to 2 oz of water twice a day. Once in the morning and once at around supper time. And there IS nutritional value in baby juice- I don't know where that other person is from. Apple juice is the least nutritional but you get the vitamins and whatnot from baby juice. They don't add any preservatives or anything to baby juice. As long as you are using like gerber or beach nut or something like that- it has plenty of nutrients. Ask your doctor or the nutritionalist at your prediatrician's office- they suggest juice as a serving of fruit. And also if it were empty calories wic wouldn't offer it which is appoved by th US government with studies to prove these things are okay.

I didn't introduce juice to my kids until they were ready for the sippy cup, about 6 months. Diluted as you say, of course. I never measured, but I started with very small amounts in case they reacted to it. Then I gradually increased to about half a sippy cup, then a full sippy cup, but only once a day. I've never been a big measurer, I tend to be on the conservative side of reasonable. Formula or breast milk is still much more important than any juice you might offer at this stage. If he gets diarrhea, stop the juice and re-introduce it in a couple of months.

I would stay away from juice as juice has too much sugar, give him fruits instead it's healthier since it's more nutritious. I read babies get all the water they need from formula. I you don't get him used to it he'll never miss it. When you go on a diet they tell you to watch the calories that come from juices because that's a very fast way to get them in, so it would be best not to get him used into a bad habit. The whole fruit has a much higher nutritional value plus it keeps you fuller longer. I think with all the child obesity problems it's good to start them with good habits young.

I can't believe your doctor said that. Yes, it's technically ok to give a baby juice but it's a bad idea. There is no nutritious value to juice. It is just empty calories and sugar. Down the road your child is much more likely to be obese if they drink juice (and later soda). My 3 year olds only drink milk--juice is on rare occasions like a picnic when they get a juice box.

I do not give my 10 month old daughter any juice at all and her docter said that was fine. No matter how much water I mix with the juice she still gets diarreha really really bad and then ends up with real bad diaper rash.

Oh my....juice before a year is a no no due to tooth decay and WAY too much sugar. I only give my daughter, who is 15 months, only 4 oz. a day and it's well diluted.

I would say no more that 4oz a day of juice, diluted with the same amount of water.
Good quality juice isnt empty calories btw.
And 1oz per month doesnt make much sense to me. ! wouldnt give 12oz a day to a 12 months old, or 18oz to an 18 month old.

my son had a major constipation problem around 5 months and my doctor told me to give pear juice or apple juice diluted and he said it wasnt a big deal with how much as long as it didnt interfere with his breast feeding (or formula) feedings. I usually gave him about 3 oz of juice with three oz of water and that lasted almost all day ( he only sipped it, he actually prefered water!)

For baby that young, jiuce really isn't something you want to give him at all. Not until their eating solid foods and is basically completely off the bottle in maybe a sippy cup or something would I say it's really ok.
Giving it to them too soon can cause the new lil teeth to come in with cavities, and cause the child to start it's inocent lil life out with horrible tooth decay.

Start the baby off with about an ounce at first to see if he will drink it all (make the water and juice equal the ounce).
