It's called a mommy-to-be. What the hell do you think it's called? She's not a mother YET so it would be incorrect to call her anything to do with unwed mother or anything. I just think it's wrong the way some people act. You know it's not always as simple as getting married. Thanks to the government we have problems like if two people get married they lose certain benefits and it winds up costing them more than if they were both unmarried but living together. What is important is that they take care of their baby and each other.

There is no such thing as an illegitimate child in law in western society.

There are children of a marriage and other children of the same father. He has the same responsibility for all his children.

Shame on people who label children. "Unwed mother" is a term from half a century ago.

The child is called "child", the mother is called "mother" with no additional disparaging terminology. The union between the parents does not require a name when it comes to the rights of the child.

It is called illegitimacy...

:: Illegitimacy ::

Ilegitimacy was a term in common use for the condition of being born of parents who were not validly married to one another; the legal term was bastardy. That status could be changed in either direction by civil law or canon law; a specific case of the former occurred with the Princes in the Tower. In some jurisdictions, marriage of an illegitimate child's parents after its birth resulted in the child's legitimation, changing the legal status to special bastardy.

Ok, are you asking what you call the girl or what would the baby be called? She (the pregnant girl) would I guess be an unwed mother.
