it may just not be possible. a small picture only has so much detail in it, smaller pictures only need a little detail in them to appear ok at the size they are, as you blow it up there is no way to fill in those "missing" areas. (pixels)
increasing the resolution on a picture that say is only 12k in size only bloats it, its not really adding anything to it to help it enlarge. think of like a small pocket dictionary. no matter what you do you can't really get it to be any larger than it is. setting the pocket dictionary to a higher resolution is sort of like stuffing it with blank pages. no matter how many you stuff it with it is not going to be any more helpful or contain more words than it already does.
its why an image shot at full capacity on a 1 mega pixel camera can not be inflated as large as one shot on a 4 mega pixel camera. the pixels just aren't there
your best bet is to try to find the same picture, or a similar one that has a larger "size" as in its file size. hope that helps some.

Most pictures downloaded from the internet do not have the resolution quality to enlarge them. Some are purposely doctored with low resolution to save space. A good quality digital camera will make photos that can be enlarged very well when transferred directly to your PC. But, even at that there will be a point where further enlarging blurs the picture.

Unless the image is a vector image, this will not happen unless you use some expensive image enlarging program but it will still not be a true enlargement. Reason being because most images you use online or pics or whatever are raster images- they use a certain amount of pixels and when stretched, lose quality. Search "raster vs vector" and you will get a good explanation.
Your best bet is to find a larger original.

There is one and only one solution : Adobe Photoshop CS2
It can enlarge images much better than any other application.
Open Photoshop.
1.Import the image (File => Import / open the image, press Ctrl+a,Ctrl+c, then go to the new file, press Ctrl+v)
2.Select the image and press Ctrl+T.
3. Resize the image with the help of the points that appear on the corners.
4. Press Enter.
5. Voila !!!

I don't know if this truly works or not, but you can hold the Shift key and enlarge the picture normally at the same time, and that supposedly doesn't blur the picture. Just give it a try sometime and it should hopefully work. :-#

it's highly depends on the exact size of the picture. If you try to enlarge them beyond their exact measurement, definitely the picture will be pixelised. In such a way, you can minimise this conditon by using photoshop.

What Kurtis said. Unless the image was large to begin with, it'll just get all pixelated when you try to enlarge it.
(psst...be careful copying images off the net...they're copyrighted material.)
