My wife is pregnant and refuses to get out of bed. She took a test last Tuesday and said it was positive with twins. Monday she quit her job and refuses to leave the bed because she says the baby wants her to lie down. She said I have to do all the laundry and cleaning and sent out applications for me to get a second job to supplement our income. Is this really something women should do when they are pregnant? Is it normal to stay in bed all day and night? When I got home from work yesterday the couch was still warm where she was sitting for hours(?) and eating cookies and drinking chablis, yet she still insists that the babies want her to remain in bed at all times. It's going to be a long 18 months - I never knew twins meant you were pregnant for twice as long...

My wife has just taken off in spaceship driven by Ray Combs. Thank you for your help but I will be on my own for now on.

I thought you were being serious at first and that either you or your wife were crazy. Thanks, I needed a laugh.

Wow either your funny or your wife is! First of all is if she just took a pregnancy test, she wouldn't know she is having twins. Plus even if she is pregnant with twins it would still be only be 9 months not 18 months. And unless she's been to a doctor and her doctor put her on bed rest, she is capable of working, doing housework, etc. Just because she's pregnant is not an excuse to stay home in bed all day and all night. I'm 27 weeks, I get up and go to work everyday and come home to do household chores. Just because your pregnant is not an excuse to slow down. In fact I've heard the more active you are the easier your pregnancy and labor will be.

First off, you're still pregnant for 9 months. NOT 18. Twins means twice as much food, twice as much sickness, pain, etc... it's very common for women who are pregnant with twins to get like this. BUT... it sounds to me like she is doing this because she's lazy. A home pregnancy test can not determine if she's having twins. Only an ultrasound can do that. Take her to the doctor. It sounds like she's using this as an excuse.

Come on guys....this guy is pulling your leg. Can't you all see he is kidding? Boy what some people will fall for.

You almost had me too, pal. But when I read about the Chablis...well that was a bit over the top. No woman would dare to drink while pregnant these days. Not even a lazy woman.

this is not normal tell her to get off her tail and to stop being lazy. unless she is sick but by the sounds of it she feels good enough to eat cookies an watch t.v. she can get up and do normal things. you should not take this from her, yes dote on her but don't do everything if I were you I would talk to her doctor an find out what she can an can't do and it does not sound healthy for her or the babies to sit around all day and eat an do not get any exercise.it is to early in the pregnancy to act like this. tell her to save it till later she will need you to do everything then.

she is full of ****. a pee test will not tell you if you are having twins. You must have anultra sound to find that out. the only reason to be bedridden would be on docters orders if the pregnacy is high risk and lots of moms of twins work throughout the pregnacy and she will only be pregnate for 9 months or less. most twins come early around 7 to 8 months

Your wife is overracting.. If that is the case no one who is pregnant would goto work, or do housework etc. I am 35 weeks pregnant and I am constantly doing housework, cleaning, cooking etc. The only way that I would stay in bed is if the doctor recommended that I do that.

Did your wifes doctor tell her to be on bedrest? if yes, then she should listen because her pregnancy could be high risks... Congratulations with the twins....

What? Anyway, some women do get very tired at the beginning of pregnancy. She will feel better later on. Or maybe she's just lazy and used the pregnancy excuse to stop working. But yeah at the beginning (because of morning sickness) you don't feel like doing anything, you will NEVER understand this feeling.

Sounds like me. I was sick though....is she sick? If she is sick from being pregnant then that makes sense, if not then she's using excuses not to do anything. I don't get the "babies want her to lie down" thing. Thats strange. No, not typical. Poor guy.
