Daemon is a e-mail component on the server side which sends back undeliverable notices of sent e-mail. Usually each provider has its own name if front of Daemon, like pop phnx, and a message such as this: "sorry to report this message is undeliverable to the following address.....), and then the address the e-mail was attempted to be sent to is listed. Then it usually goes on to say, "This is a permanent undeliverable message, after several tries pop phnx daemon has given up and will no longer keep trying to send it". These are generic words, each mail server has its own pat wording in which daemon sends its undeliverable message.

If I am wrong about this Daemon and it refers to something else entirely, then I am sorry. However, the only time I have seen the term "Daemon" has been in conjunction with an undeliverable e-mail. When I first saw this I thought it said "Demon" and I thought, "Oh, no, I have a demon virus"!! LOL

Well, good luck and have a great evening.
