Maybe we need to narrow this down, my honesty question is too general. Out of your friends, what percentage would never steal if they knew for sure they wouldn't get caught?

I have heard this figure thrown around in the business sector a few times, I am not sure on how valid it is (if at all) but they tend to assume that:

10% of people are dishonest (so would steal)
10% of people are honest (would not steal)
80% of people would steal if they think they can get away with it.

Probably about the same percentage as would tell the truth about whether they've ever stolen - I once was asked during a job interview if I'd ever stolen anything from an employer - I said yes, some office supplies - and was offered the job because I told the truth!

One would have to know the friends norms and standards...then one would know...many people hide their true selves under elaborate masks and fake their true attitudes to life ....

Only under some pressure will the true (real person be exposed)
