The properties of metals generally include

Ductility, the ability to be drawn into wire.

Malleability, the ability to be beaten into sheets.

Conductivity-- of heat and/or electricity.

Metallic luster-- a shininess which, when the metal is polished to a smooth finish, can be reflective.

High specific heat-- metals are generally able to absorb and hold larger amounts of heat energy per unit mass than are nonmetals.

There are some others, but these will probably do for a start.

Oh, and in chemical terms, metals will generally liberate hydrogen from hydrochloric acid and react to form salts called chlorides.
