This question goes out to teachers, parents, or students who have been through school. Some school districts put sixth grade in a 6-8 middle school (seems to be the most common now), but some schools place sixth grade in a K-6 elementary school. What do you think is best? Personally, I don't think it matters, but I do think that if they are placed in a middle school it should be a gradual change from a self-contained classroom. For example, sixth graders should have no more than two or three teachers for subjects.

Sixth grade can be in either setting. I've worked as a substitute teacher with sixth graders in all sorts of "configurations".

K - 6 schools. The kids are pretty much together all day, breaking off into reading and math ability groups.

Grades 6 - 9 schools. In this configuration grades 6 & 7 are one a different bell schedule from grades 8 & 9. The sixth and seventh graders have the same teacher for Language Arts and Social Studies and break off for math, science and electives. This configuration is often the result of crowded district using available space. There is a school in a nearby town set up like I described. A new high school and a couple more elementary schools will soon be built and the 6 -9 school will very likely become a regular middle school

Grades 6 - 8 middle schools. At one local middle school, the sixth graders are in their own wing and only rotate classes in that wing. They also eat their lunch at a different time than the rest of the school.

Another local district is building a "Mid High" school for grades eight and nine. In about five years it is expected to become a full high school. When that school is built the sixth graders will be in a grades 6 & 7 middle school

Another district has all its ninth graders in their own building, which I think is great, since many kids get "lost" in ninth grade and begin to flounder around age fourteen or fifteen.

Sixth graders in the many varieties of "middle school" are more sheltered than the older kids.

I am currently at a charter school, and a sixth grader: I believe that they should be at a middle school:

About what you said about changing 2-3 classes, a lot of fifth grade classes do that already, so it is gradual

it quite is the final one. Circumference (the area around a circle) = 2(Pi)(Radius) or (Pi)(Diameter). the area from the middle to any factor on the circle is in simple terms the radius.
