Answer:
The problem is not how many fireworks...
(Sparklers won't do it)
But how to utilize the fireworks in an effective manner
to yield effective lift and thrust without creating an
sudden explosion that blows everything and everyone
to bits.
This is not an easy question to answer
nor is it an item to recommend to someone
for fear that they might go out and try it
blowing off an arm or a leg in the process.
However, properly engineered solid fuels can
and have powered aircraft to high altitudes.
Research and testing were performed by the Germans
circa WW-II with solid fuel rocket planes. Don't quote
me, but I think I read where a few went up to 25,000 feet
and speeds of say almost 500 miles per hour. I don't think
that piloted German rocket planes exceeded the speed of sound. Somehow I have the notion that we only penetrated the speed of sound with swept wing aircraft about the time of the Korean War (Mig Fighter era).

I heard the story that long time ago some Chinese emperor tried the same thing and they are still looking for him!
[/quote]
So that's what that arm I found was?!
Anyway... first and foremost each rocket is usually designed to launch what it's attached to so no matter how many you attach to yourself you may never achieve the desired effect. The mass they have to lift (you) will be a constant because each addition of a rocket will cancel itself out (since each rocket will have only enough power to lift itself and its payload up).
However, that said, if you were to see the weight of a rocket after removing it's solid fuel tube and then dividing that figure by your own weight you would be able to see how many of the rocket fuel tubes (in theory ONLY) it would take to launch a person.
I should warn however that you shouldn't mess with fireworks unless you wish to lose parts of your body. It's not a pretty sight and just imagine having to work on your pc without one of your hands (and that's if you didn't blow yourself to pieces like that Chinese Emperor above). Not a nice thought so use some common sense and don't do it.

Hi. Take the weight of the person and divide by the thrust of each firework. A rocket that produces one ounce of thrust more than it weighs would need 16 per pound of person.

Idiots repeat this experiment all the time. They place one M-80 in an inverted tin can, stand on the can, and light the fuse.
However, it's absurdly dangerous:
