HCTZ is a diuretic (rids your body of excess fluid) Diovan also does the same thing but helps with bp. You may need to be reevaluated by your Dr. to put you on an antihypertension drug if your bp continues to be this high. It may take several trials to get the right medication for you, as with most people. Keep pressing him/her on this issue.

Yea, just a tad bit high. Mine 160/109 so I got you beat. I go check and see what it is now.
Yea, mine 156/86 now. I take 2-3 Aspirin Usually 3 regular not sure mg) if it up and it usually go back to normal. I take HCTZ 12.5/Lisinopril 10 MG for pressure. I think you have a lot bigger dose.
Simvastatin 20 MG for cholesterol, my cholesterol is good but my Doctor say take them anyway because he know I like Bacon and real whipped cream and ice cream and, well you get the picture.

There comes a time in life when you must concentrate on your health. Remember when your parents said to you eat balanced meals with veggies, meat, and fruits. Well, nows the time. Eating healthy is a major key. In fact, you should probably go Organic too. I've been eating Organic for 4 years now, and I've noticed too many health benefits like I don't get migranine headaches anymore. I am not hardcore like some people who eat 100% Organic but I eat enough to reduce the pesticide intake and etc.
That aside, you SHOULD exercise. Walk about 1 mile a day to start, then go farther as your body gets better.
My parents retired about 6 months ago. They were on a larger dosage than you. Since they were retired and had nothing to do, they started to exercise. Walking at first then light weights. I tell you they are almost off their blood pressure drugs.
They went Organic and notice health benefits as well.
So go to your doctor and let him know your blood pressure is high and he'll give you a higher dosage that will band aid your illness. But definitely change your diet and get some exercise AND you will live a better pain-free life. That is the TRUE CURE.
Drugs are band aids that cloak the illness and does not attack the root cause!
You know what you have to do; now go out and save yourself!
If anyone has questions about the Organic Lifestyle or any questions, I'd love to share my experience, so just email me via my profile and I'll be happy to respond to you.

I'm guessing you should exercise? Watch what you eat, drink plenty of water. Ask your doctor what you should be doing... I'm sure he has already told you. Medicine isn't fixing the problem it's just eliminating some of the side effects!
I don't mean to sound harsh but you're talking about your life here!!!!!

Exercise and good healthy eating makes all the difference. In fact, if you do all that, you will be able to get off the medication. Do you eat bananas? I read that those help to lower blood pressure, it's the potassium in them I think.

You need to go back to your doctor so they can either switch your meds or add another one. That is still high.
