I've never been one for makeup, and I've decided I'd like to just give my eyes a little something as there no longer covered behind glasses, and I'm loving contacts.

I can't exactly say I have the ability to apply eyeliner, and somehow end up making more of a mess out of it, and end up having a really huge thick line, when I'd like just a bit.

I've tried mascara, and as I'm blonde, my eyelashes are really blonde, I like how it looks with mascara. I however don't like how the bottom lashes look without some sort of eyeliner. Is it me, or does it look weird to have mascara on without eyeliner?

Any tips and advice as what to do would be great!

I wear kohl. It's a type of eyeliner, and it's not really a pencil. I use it on the pink area behind my lashes(basically inside my eyelids, both top and bottom) and it gives my eyes a more open look and my face a brighter complexion. Then after i apply a very light layer of eyeshadow(I'm indian and hence I have tan skin, so I use a very light brown shimmer eyeshadow--it dazzles in the sunlight or any form of light but it's not really "visible"). I then outline the top of my eyelid with l'oreal's self-sharpening eyeliner pencil. I then use mascara(usually a volumizing one) on, usually, only my upper lashes, but sometimes on my lower lashes too. I also go out just wearing kohl and mascara, and my friend had blue eyes, so she usually just wears a brownish-black mascara..it opens her eyes up. I need the kohl to open my eyes, but for people with lighter skin and hair, just mascara can be fine.

People always tell me that I do my eye make-up very well. I can actually hold a mirror with one hand and appply eyeline with the other, in a moving car. Practice makes you perfect. Here's some info on differnt styles of applying eye make-up:

Depending on its texture, eyeliner can be softly smudged or clearly defined. There are four main formulas available on the market, each one for producing a different effect:

Liquid eye liner gives the most intense and precise line that perfectly defines the eyes and stays sharp over time. It is usually available in dark matte or iridescent shades and come in small bottle with a brush of felt applicator. It is difficult to apply and requires a steady hand. It is recommended for top eye lid only, as not only does it have a tendency to irritate the eye if incorectly applied, it also gives a very harsh line.

Harder powder-based eye pencil draws a clean and precise line and is easy to apply. It is available in dark matte shades.

Softer wax-based eye pencils contain waxes that ease application. They are good for smudging and come in a variety of colours. Bright blue, green, aqua, violet, or bronze liners are great when a bright colour should be quickly and precisely applied in a line. Light beige or white liners are perfect for highlighting eye lids and corners. This type of eye liner may come in a pencil, a cone or a compact with a brush applicator.

Kohl eyeliner has the softest powder texture and is available in dark matte shades. Kohl is used to softly define the eye contour with a dark (usually black) colour. This product may come in several forms: pencil, pressed powder, or loose powder. It is usually applied to the inner rim of the eye (the pink area behind the eyelashes) unlike other eyeliners as it does not irritate the sensitive tissue in that area.>>

No, it doesn't look weird. I wear eyeliner only when I'm dressing up. If you're young, putting eyeliner on the bottom isn't necessary. Apply eyeliner on the top with a powder liner a liner brush very close to lash line. Remember that eyeliner is only supposed to give the illusion of having fuller lashes. It looks very natural. Also, always use an eyelash curler. It opens up your eyes and makes them look bigger.

If you line above your eyelashes on the top and then put mascara on, you don't need eyeliner on the lower lash line.
If you feel like you want something but nothing too heavy, get a darkish colored eye shadow (maybe a brown or a plum) and use an angle brush to dot some on your lower lash line. That will give you a faint line but there will definately be a difference.

The best look is to put a light coating of eyeliner on the top and bottom. To smooth it out, just run your finger over it to wipe off excess. You'll only want a thin, light line on your lower eyelid, and only from the center of the eye outward. It can be a little bit darker on the upper lid, but don't go TOO dark. Put a generous coat of mascara on the upper lashes, (not Tammy Fae Baker generous, though) and a very light coat of mascara on the bottom lashes. This will make your eyes pop. (The key is to go very light on the bottom and heavier on the top.)

I always wear mascara and rarely wear eyeliner. When I do wear liner I use an eyeliner brush that I dip in my eyeshadow and it helps me to create a thin line so that my eyes arent screaming "look at my Im lined" The most important makeup tips I know are that it should look natural and shouldnt take more than five minutes...if it does youre wearing to much. Check out mac.com for a liner brush.

I usually wear eyeliner and mascara. I had a hard time putting on the eyeliner too. Just remember practice makes perfect.

I always use mascara without eyeliner. My eyes look smaller when I use eyeliner. The best thing is to experiment with makeup while at home and see what you like best.

Ok, there are great shaped eyeliners for beginers. if you can find a crayon like one, thats great. It applys with one stroke. Sometimes I put my eyeliner on the top lid only, sometimes the inside of my bottom lid. top lid makes it look classy, bottom makes it look punkish. And for mascara, put on the top lid and bottom, being careful. Look into one place and apply the mascara, blinking sorta helps to. You dont want it to seem clumped up.

my friend is allergic to almost all makeup but she can wear mascara, she looks fine with just that.

to get the eyeliner on the bottom lid, which is the only place i wear it, i personally pull my eye so its tight. then i color the lid in, gently glide the tip along the lashes and slightly above, keep draging it acrossed untill you get the darkness you want.

I have light brown eyes and i find that I have a hard time with liquid eyeliner it gets everywhere. I love pencil eyeliner I love using black, purple(a dark color), and green. the mascara opens my eyes and the eyeliner gives my eyes an exotic slant . try using other colors than black try mixing them (like black on the top green one the bottom) or gray on the top and black on the bottom they have different affects with different faces
