Forget all that BMI (Body Mass Index) chart crap. It really does not work. If people try so hard to stay at the "ideal" healthy weight someone of their height is suppose to be then everyone in the NFL would be considered obese by the chart standards.
Even if you are fat you can still be healthy. For the skinny people who eat what ever you want and never gain weight you are just as likely to get Diabetes, Heart Disease, etc...just like fat people, so don't think you're off the hook even though you don't show.
Forget what other people say to you. If you are happy then good other than that it's no one else's business. However, if you get to a point that is life threatening and the people around you that love you are hurt by the lifestyle you choose then it should be a good time to listen and change, but don't do it when it is really too late.
I hope this helps.

Thats a good question. If I lived back in those renasance time - I would be hot! They liked the thick girls back then. Now, the stick skinny women are it. It's the culture. They serve super fattening food everywhere (TV, grocery, fast food, etc.) and then expect everyone to be thin. I don't get it. The only time that I ever want to be skinny is when people bring it up. Other than that, I am fine with my body and they way I look. And sence my husband can't keep his hands off of me - he must not think I look bad either. I wish people did just mind their own freakin' business and not discrininate because of weight (and everything else) - but they don't, so I guess we'll have to just ignore it. Keep feeling good about your self and only change if YOU want to change, not if someone else feels that you need to. Have a great night sweetie!

I agree many skinny people think that they are better than fat people, but isn't that like any other type of discrimination? It's inevitable. The same thing occurs to many smokers.
Health care professionals want to try and help people lose weight because it is unhealthy to be obese. They are just looking out for their own communities and trying to help people lead more productive lives and to increase their quality of life.
But if you are happy being fat, that is okay too. Just don't get upset when people try to help you by making suggestions, as long as they are being nice about it :)
Hope that explained things a little bit

I don't feel powerful when I've got any extra weight, and it's not the "skinny" people who make me want to lose weight. I want to for my own reasons. I'm not "very fat" though...but it does affect your health. Lucky you for not having health problems yet and for already having a really really good job... You know many places now don't want to hire anyone who even has twenty pounds extra, much less any more than that?
Now I will go mind my own business...while answering other people's questions about their own business.... :)

1. Player, it's not about physical power. It is about good health.
2. It's very disturbing, and upsetting, to needlessly watch someone with food addictions, or abstinence (i.e. anorexia, bulemia). Any addictions are very harmful to the emotional well being of the people who love them. They have to sadly watch the person destroy themself, and are helpless to do anything.
3. I'm guessing you are young and haven't seen the results of overweight on health, in time. Diabetes, back/disc problems, heart, stroke and CA are not always controllable at a certain point. Prevention is the best solution. Plus, you would feel better.
4. BTW, you have control issues with your environment. A bigger body blocks people from getting around them and from moving easily within their surroundings. You are selfish if you think that your making it difficult for everyone that comes into contact with you is appreciated. Perhaps you get your kicks that way. Something to think about.
5. Either way, your body is your responsibility. Don't blame others for avoiding you. They are letting you have it your way.
Good Luck and Warm Wishes.

Various reasons:
1. Being overweight is a strain on the heart.
2. It is perceived fat people use up more of everything.
3. To see a fat person is off putting (to some).

I was fat once. 350+ pounds I think. I noticed that people treated me with extra special contempt, and were always making fat jokes. Women did not look at me at all, and guys had nothing but sneers for me.
I consumed lots of beer everyday and ate whatever I wanted. People were always making Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers jokes at me, but at the time I didn't care. One day we got this new woman at my job and I swear she was a thing of pure beauty. I waited for a year before my fat self decided to talk to her. I asked her out for coffeee expecting her to tell me no, but she said yes which surprised me.
We went out and sat in a restaurant and made small talk. She seemed to like my sense of humor and I really loved her sharp mind while I was basking in her beauty. At some point during the conversation she put her coffe cup down, looked me straight in the eyes and said that I would be so much more handsome if I lost weight. I was stunned and embarrassed and she laughed and then told me straight up to lose the weight.
I told her what if I didn't want to lose the weight? And she told me that I would never date her if I didn't. This bugged me, but I did see her point, but for pride sake I told her jokingly to mind her own damn business. We both laughed and went back to work.
Of course I'm a guy, and if a woman gives a suggestion to a guy with the promise of closeness if he succeeds, the guy hears it, so what do you think I spent the next whole year doing? Yup I lost ALL the weight and I got to date the girl.
I noticed that when I lost all the weight people suddenly were nicer to me. The fat jokes stopped. Women started coming on to me. I suddenly was invited to every party, and I got laid a lot. The funny part is I was still the same person, but in order for people to like me, or want me, I had to change my mass and shape. In America and maybe the rest of the world...image is everything....What a stupid, narrow, superficial society we live in.
The hidden message in our society is: If you are fat, no one will love you.
Sorry for the rant.

You know this is a very good question. I am not what you call fat. But I believe people just feel everyone should look like them selves.I wouldnt worry about what other people think. I spent 40 years of my life trying to look my best to find the right man. all i ever got was men that treated me like dirt. So now i eat when i want. i dress how i want. I dont care what they think. I am happy being me. Just keep being your self. If you feel good about your self then my hats off to ya. Keep on smiling.

People want fat people to loose weight because........ they are fat! How is your health today? Do you get enough energy to to do things?, are you eating the right kind of food?, do you exercise? I know it's your body.... but being overweight will lead you to different kinds of diseases like diabetes , heart disease, joint problems, back problems.....etc.
I don't know what "power" you're talking about...... and I don't know how long that "power" will last. True, it's your body, that's why you have to take care of it!
