I have written the story, and the ending, but something is missing. Something is not quite right. It's like it should have ended sooner, or perhaps not finished at all. Why did it go from an exciting beginning, curious middle, to a flat ending?

It really varies from story to story. But the ending should feel natural and authentic to that specific story. It could be happy OR sad...or ambiguous...or it could tie up all loose ends...or you could have a cliff hanger ending where the reader wants more. Just whatever feels right to you. Have people you trust read it and give you their honest opinions.

Also don't be afraid to edit and rewrite. Keep working on it until it fills right to you.

Also you might need time away from it. If you've been working on it nonstop for weeks/months etc. You might need to put it away for a month or so and then reread it from beginning to end. You might have newer or fresher ideas on how to improve it.

What is it about?

Maybe you should make it a shorter story.

Usually the end is where you tie up loose ends and resolve whatever the major conflict of the story was. Suggest what happens to the characters next (where do they go) it shouldn't be detailed, just a suggestion that their existence doesn't end with the end of your story.

The end of a story should tie together all the parts of the story, but it can also leave the reader wondering what is still to come. And yet, there should be a sense of completion and fulfillment.

have an ending that will leave your readers breathless and crying a lil. but at the same time wrap it up as if they know it is the end. like in a book i'm writing, the end is this:

Jay crossed her arms in front of her." you won't get away with this." she sighed. Dracula laughed and came up to her."what are you going to do?"he asked mockingly. "this."Jay turned into a werewolf that moment and lunged at dracula's neck.

The End

looks like there are still some nagging informations you have to work on so that the books comes to a credible end. let the end be such that you are the first one to be satisfied that it has a good end. or it may also be that you have to polish up certain parts. i am sure you will be able to handle it.

Well the story is yours, so why don't you find the place in the middle where it stops looking good to you and then start rewritting from there.

Maybe you could write a sequel.....like how the Harry Potter stories never "really" end.....

U should have all the characters die and then it is a good ending
