how did the helots get treated by the spartians?

Helots daily lives? what happened to them once they were born? How they were treated by other Spartians?

I think the Helots were treated like serfs when they were farming, and like kings when they were fighting. They had an odd lot in life.

They were treated very badly - it was one of the models for the way Hitler wanted to treat Slavs in his empire.
One one occasion the Spartans summoned all the Helots who had distinguished themselves in war to come and get their freedom, and then massacred them.
