What is the best brand of washer and dryer I can purchase for under 500 dollars a piece?

As all of the responders have said, Whirlpool is the brand to get. Since Whirlpool has purchased Maytag they are all Whirlpools now.

Ask any experienced Appliance tech they will tell you Whirlpool for it's value,ease of repair,& its just a little better quality then some of the same priced Maytags.....Go with whirlpool or there lesser known brands (same washer) at a lower price ..Roper & Estate

Maytag makes good washers and dryers. They have some that are cheap and some that are really expensive. You have a good bet finding what you are looking for there.

Whirpools, we have some that were under 500 a piece and they work great, just got them. I think I have heard people have problems with the Whirpool Neptune.

I agree - I've always had good luck with maytag and they are very affordable.
